"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water" John 7:38
There is something about this thought at the start of a new week that is both an encouragement & a challenge. Jesus is talking about us experiencing His life flowing from the inside out - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness & self control - I want that to be my experience. The interesting point is that the quality of your life is not dictated by our outward circumstances. The life described here by Jesus is one that is birthed internally and then flows outwardly into our worlds. As a result, when we are in the middle of challenges and hardship our state can be peaceful and joyful.
Jesus says that this is the life of people who believe Him. How does that happen?
The word 'believe' here also means “to trust in” and to "be persuaded”. So it follows - being persuaded that God’s perspective is the final authority in every circumstance and trusting that He is faithful to perform His word will result in a quality of life that is not dependant on outward circumstances.
Your promise at the start of this week is that God has a never ending flow of His Spirit & life for you. Whenever you feel troubled today, bring it to the Lord and speak words of trust that He is faithful. Speak out the transformation you want to see. Speak out the change that you are waiting for. Speak out the healing that you need. Invert the situation, turn your fear to faith and living water will flow.
God is faithful!
