I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Grace helped me to realise that it’s nothing about me and everything about him.
Recently we said goodbye to a family member. What hit me was the incredibly fast speed of life. We are born, we live, our story is told and our sentence receives its own full stop. I acutely felt that my earthly life was little more than a vapour, a “blink and you miss it” moment.
I had no way to leave a legacy, make an impact. I really felt the need to leave a mark on the earth that reminded people who I was long after I was gone. As I considered these thoughts a partial song lyric came to mind from the band Casting Crowns, they wrote:
Not because of who I am
But because of what you've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who you are
When I realised that it’s nothing about what I can do or achieve and everything that Christ can do through me then a small seed of freedom began to germinate. Very quickly it grew into a huge enveloping idea in my heart and soul that helped me to realise that no matter how long or short my life would be, it was to be a living testimony and witness to the goodness and grace of Daddy God.
Trust God today that your success and your story will reflect the goodness of our Father.
