One of my favourite movies is National Treasure in which Nicholas Cage plays Benjamin Gates. As a young child his grandfather tells him a story of an incredible treasure hidden by the American founding fathers. Against all the odds he solves the clues they left behind that lead to the treasure.
Many Christians struggle with the area of discerning God’s will for their lives. Scores of books have been written assuring believers that if they follow certain guidelines they will be able to find God’s perfect will for them. This presupposes that God ‘hides’ His will from us – wanting us to search it out like Ben Gates had to search for that treasure.
If we believe Father God loves us - and He does - and wants the best for us – and He does - He will lead us to make good decisions. It’s not a series of puzzles to be solved but about resting and trusting Him. Listening to His voice in our hearts.
If you’re feeling uncertain about what to do today – take a step back, trust God, and relax in Him. Then you will see the way you should go.
