I love the thought of God rejoicing over me with joy. It is a remarkable picture – The God of all creation delighting in me. When I read this I can’t help but picture a parent holding a newborn baby – I see the parent’s heart swell with love and pride as they comfort their distressed child.
That is how God views you. The great warrior who holds all power in His hands today wants to calm and comfort you in the quiet confidence of His love.
He is right there with you, He delights in you and you bring Him so much joy. Your past sins are covered, not because you have done anything great but because of His love and what He has done for you through Jesus. He loves it; He loves spending time with you. He delights in it and as one translation puts it, “He will rejoice over you with singing” (NKJV). We don’t often think of God singing but that is what He does because of the joy that you bring Him.
Today let this image penetrate your understanding of both yourself and others. Let the appreciation of God’s presence with you and the joy that you bring Him colour and shape your view of the world.
