This week I was discussing my future career choices with a colleague of mine when she came out with this phrase ‘Jessica sometimes its not about how good you are or how much you’ve accomplished, its all about your contacts and who you know’, to be fair I agreed with her.

As I drove home I was listening to my worship music when this phrase came through my speakers ‘the one who reigns forever is a friend of mine’.

In this moment God gave me a moment of kingdom clarity – it’s not about how good we are in our own strength, how charismatic we are, or what ‘contacts’ we have because we have the most favored contact of all – God.

Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.

                            Luke 1:28

Favor is defined as a gracious act that is freely granted. Imagine the confidence you would posses that walking into every situation may it be a new interview or into your standing job, in your finances, relationships, health, difficult decisions, believing that you were whole heartedly favored by God and expected his breakthrough in situations.

Our expectations have a lot to do with what happens to us in life. There is a scriptural principle that says, “as we think in our hearts, so are we” (Proverbs 23:7). It follows that the level of favor we experience in life will rise to our level of expectation. Therefore if we are to benefit from God’s favor on our lives, we are have to raise our expectation and believe that God wants us to be blessed with his favor.

What should we expect our favor to look like? Psalm 103: 2-6, 17-18 lists several effects of God’s favor on your life. Expectation that God will forgive our sins, heal our diseases, redeem us from destruction, crown us with loving kindness and tender mercies, provide for our health and strength, give us justice when we’re oppressed, and extend his righteousness to our children’s children as we keep covenant with him.

I challenge you this week to expect God’s blessings. Expect prosperity where you see lack, healing in your body when you see sickness; invite God into areas of your life and see him work in and through you because the one who reigns forever is a friend of yours.
