27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Colossians 1:27

I have been parked on this well known verse from Colossians for a couple of weeks now, and it has really encouraged and blessed me!

So many Christians can spend their time unknowingly searching out this “mystery”. Searching for, and trying their best for a “closer” connection to God. Thinking that their emptiness, sadness or sickness stems from a lack of connection with God.

This simply is NOT true!

The truth is, as Colossians 1:27 says, that Christ in you, is your hope (confident expectation of good) of glory. This is good news!

I believe that many of the confusing feelings that Christians feel, like sadness or lack of relationship with God, stem from wrong believing or misinformation! Once we accept Christ into our hearts as our saviour and redeemer, we can never get any closer to Him. In one glorious exchange, we accept Him, and he dwells in us! Our relationship cannot be anymore intimate, and nothing can prevent it. As Romans says;

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

You see, Christ in us is our hope! When we walk without the knowledge of Christ in us, we walk without the power of that confident expectation in our lives that God is always good, and that He has great plans for our lives.

We cannot let deception run riot in our lives. Sometimes in becomes all to easy to allow the negative thoughts drive us into the ground and beat us up. But reality is, and this is the reality that we need to meditate on, and let it be a core foundation on which we stand, that Christ is in us, with us and for us. Jesus, the King of kings, Lord of lords, almighty, all powerful, healer, restorer, redeemer and saviour lives in us!

4…for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1John 4:4

Our feelings can be deceiving. So next time you begin thinking that you are being overcome by an emotion, a feeling or a current situation, stand up and remember who's you are, and who you represent. God is in us and will work through us, and it will never be because of anything we have done or could do! It is all because of what Jesus did for us, it is all about Him and His love towards us.

Rest in the fact that Christ has finished it all in our place!

We are free to live effortlessly in unity with Him!

God is good.
