“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.”

Psalm 34:15

EG came to me this morning in the middle of getting ready for school and said mummy "will you listen to me read my book." Inside I was thinking I've so much to do before we leave the house.

She had bought "Danny, The Champion Of The World" at the book club in school on Friday. She didn't want me to do anything else for her but just listen. She was so excited. I listened to her and she discussed parts of the story with me.

It made me think how often do people just want us to "listen" to them. It's a simple thing but we often neglect to do it. They might just want someone to witness something that has happened. They don't necessarily want answers or solutions, they just want someone to hear what they have to say. They want someone to listen to how they're feeling, or what they're maybe going through.

Listening might be the answer, it might be the thing that makes them feel that what they have to say is of value and that they are valued. It might make them feel less alone in what they're maybe facing.

How amazing is it that our Daddy God just delights in listening to his children when they share their hearts with him? But even more than that, how often do we listen for our Daddy God to share what his heart is for us?

Don't be too busy to listen. When we stop taking time to listen, we risk missing the heartbeat of Heaven.
