Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
The stresses and struggles of everyday life can rob your peace, trouble your heart and make you feel afraid. We read yesterday that faith is a gift from God. Peace is also a gift from God. So why do we talk about our peace when Jesus says that He has given us His peace?
He doesn’t give like the world gives, He isn’t looking for something in return, He doesn’t take it away because we’ve dropped the ball or messed up. He gives it unconditionally because He loves, and because He cares.
Because He cares for us, we can cast all our cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7). And when we feel the anxiety of life’s struggles, we can commit our requests to Him and He fills us with His supernatural peace, a peace that is beyond our ability to understand (Philippians 4:7).
No matter how strong the wind is, no matter how rough the waves are, no matter how severe the storm is, thank Him for His peace and the Prince of Peace won’t let you down.
