"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (TM)

Rhythm is something that is important when playing with other musicians. The magical times playing in a band happen when it just flows easily, when we ‘get into the groove’ and rather than effort, it is simply effortless as we play.

The unforced rhythms of grace is just like this.

It’s all about finding that groove in life and it’s found in Jesus. It’s found in who He is, the teachings He gave and in the way of life He calls us to live. When we continually resolve in ourselves to put our relationship with Jesus front and centre of our lives, we suddenly become more mindful, more aware of our circumstances, more focused on what is true and eternally important. We are able to prioritise, to recalibrate.

Life has a habit of continually creating a lot of white noise around us. But having this mindful approach enables us to remain steadfastly focused on what is important and true even in the midst of testing circumstances.

Make it your goal today to put your relationship with Jesus front and centre in your life, in all that you do. As you do, I promise you, that you will start to see things in a much different light.
