I said to myself, “Relax and rest.  God has showered you with blessings.
Soul, you’ve been rescued from death; Eye, you’ve been rescued from tears;
And you, Foot, were kept from stumbling.”
Psalm 116:7 The Message

At this time of year most of us are thinking about holidays – a change of scene – the need for a real rest. Children are tired after exams and the school year, as adults we start to wind down mentally and stare longingly out of our office windows at blue skies and sunshine (hopefully) and imagine barbecues and beaches.

Yet real rest is much more than an absence of work or physical exertion.  Godly rest is transformative; we can be at rest every day of lives.  It’s being in that place where we know at the core of our being the truth that God IS in control.  We don’t have to worry, stress or get burn out.  When we are at rest in God we may be very busy but we feel at peace because we are living in the truth that ‘His yoke is easy, and his burden is light’ (Matthew 11:30)

That’s God’s grace in action.

As you start a new day – remind yourself of the blessings God has showered you with, that you’ve been brought from death to life and that God is watching your every step.

Relax, rest and experience grace.
